Charitable Activities

BKS staff have continued to raise funds in the office for local charities over the last few months.

In February, £85 was raised for the JSPCA Valentine’s Day collection through staff donations on a dress-down day.  In May, staff donated £40 and assorted tins to the annual Jersey Tinathon.  In June, £65 was raised on the Go Yellow Day in aid of Jersey Hospice, by cash donations from staff and a cake sale; many of us also entered into the spirit of the day by dressing in yellow.

In addition, staff have been involved with events within the community.  Two of our ladies entered the Collas Crill Island Walk, which raises funds for charities to be nominated by the Rotary Club de la Manche.  One completed the 48-mile walk and the other almost made it to the finish line.  Another member of staff entered the local Race for Life and completed the 10K run, accompanied by her 6 year old daughter.  During July, Chris Bevan will be running the Run4Men 10K event in aid of Cancer Research UK (and if any readers would like to sponsor him, please click on the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/Chris-Bevan2.

BKS sponsored a table at the Jersey Heart Support Group Ball earlier in the year, combining support for a valuable service with an enjoyable social evening.  We also entered a team in the Jersey Cheshire Home quiz evening and assisted at the Collas Crill Island Walk way-station manned by the Home.

Future plans include entering two teams in the annual Jersey Relay Marathon – watch this space!
